EverPatch+ Shield

EverPatch+ Shield is a Permanent Scleral Reinforcement Matrix specifically designed to strengthen and protect the conjunctiva over glaucoma tube shunts. These devices are implanted in the eye to relieve excess pressure that can progressively damage the optic nerve.

EverPatch+ is the first inert, synthetic, and non-degradable tissue substitute for ocular surface surgeries, eliminating the need for donor tissues like cornea, sclera, and pericardium, which degrade over time and carry disease risks.

Made from a sterile, non-woven polymer matrix, EverPatch+ integrates seamlessly with surrounding tissue by promoting cellular proliferation.

EverPatch+ Shield Features

The EverPatch+ Shield was designed based on feedback from leading glaucoma specialists who used the original rectangular-shaped device. Its unique features allow physicians to attach it to glaucoma tube shunts in under a minute, significantly reducing operating room time compared to tissue. The tapered anterior edge, combined with an integrated stopper band, minimizes the device’s footprint near the limbus while ensuring the entry port to the eye remains covered, thereby reducing the risk of exposure and subsequent infection. Additionally, the EverPatch+ has larger bio-integration holes and is more hydrophilic than the original CorNeat EverPatch, providing a superior substrate for cellular colonization and promoting tissue integration.
